“Surprised. Really surprised. I went to school with the author and he’s not that bright, yet this book is good. I think he cheated. Again.” — David
What Readers Are Saying
“This will be a great addition to the library on my starship to Mars. Sure to be popular. But then again, it takes 9 months so they’ll probably read anything.” — Elon
“Amazing. Simply outstanding. An unbelievable effort from a first-time author. (I have to say that because I want him to feed our cat when we are away). — Graham (neighbor)
“TOTAL LIES!!! This is a TERRIBLE book. It is COMPLETELY MADE UP!” — Donald
Smart, compelling, and thoroughly entertaining… A fun space romp.
Fraser’s gripping and utterly fun intergalactic adventure takes readers on an exhilarating journey for a significant parable about environmental concerns, humanity’s survival, and self-discovery.
As a Granitarian from Andromeda Galaxy, Abe is more than ready to embark on his coming-of-age trip to the rather primitive Earth. When he meets Trent, he strikes an easy friendship with the young earthling. But the pair soon become embroiled in a Russian conspiracy with frightening implications.
Trent and Abe’s stories intertwine in nicely tangled ways, and it’s through their interweaving stories that Fraser asks interesting questions about identity, self-discovery, life-purpose, and friendship.
In chronicling Granity’s struggle to survive at all costs, Fraser tackles climate issues and social politics which have obvious echoes in our own world. But this isn’t a dry philosophical exercise: it’s fast-paced, exhilarating, and full of laugh-out-loud humor. Fraser is an author to watch.
Prairies book review
“Some books just punch you in the face. This won’t.” — Mike
“His father and I had no inkling that he could write like this. He hardly spoke a word as a teenager. He just communicated in grunts. So this is a wonderful surprise. I love this book. I find myself picking it up and rereading it all the time. Which has nothing to do with my dementia.” — Alison
“What’s not to like about this book? I found it on Facebook and it has Russians in it.” — Mark

“Oh, so I forgot to tell you. I started your Dad’s book a couple of days ago. 1 day later I finished it. Great read! I’m going to read it again after a couple of books, as some of the things I want to re-read. He’s done really well! 10/10 from me.” — Monica
I wanted to say a big thanks for the copy of “The Lighting Effect” which I got around to reading a few weeks ago and finished surprisingly quickly. I really enjoyed it. Loved the pace of the plot and the way Trent and Abe thought through their options in the middle piece. And the out-of-world view of the weird things we do. It almost came to an end too suddenly, I was engrossed. Anyway, Well done, looking forward to your next book. — David
It took me a couple of weeks to finish it, but mainly because I was enjoying it so much I didn’t want the story to end. A ripping good yarn, must have been fun to write, it was certainly fun to read. - Pete
Just finished your book. Smashed through it. Bloody good read. Look forward to hearing Abe’s next adventures as an explorer. — Ben
